And you guys don't consider this an exploit? I'm just curious.

Sure don't.

Anet would've sealed it up by now if they didn't want us doing it.

I'm kind of bored. I feel like getting my warrior good stuff so I can finally put some runes on him. I guess I might have some business for whoever is the best person sometime.

Is there anyway I can pay extra to get rushed from yaks bend to DF? I dont want to do the missions, lol.

I see.

That is a convienient answer, is that the only reason you don't consider it an exploit?

Personally I don't care what people do in the game because I play my own way,
but since this is a discussion forum I'm really interested. I'd be curious if there was a more of a gameplay explanation. Let's say Anet hypothetically made it if you died you ended up back at the town you started from last...like the missions. Even though it's open to all would a low level player still be escorted?

Not at all. It's just another way to go through the game. My first time through, I did no missions at all until Sanctum Cay. That was only to get to the desert. If I could've somehow walked to the desert and then walked to Droknar's, I would have. I liked exploring. I walked and explored every map and visited every mission town and outpost until I got to Sanctum. I even did every quest; I just never touched missions save Sanctum and Ascension.

My second character ended up at Droknar's progressing through missions and quests. I've since gone back and gotten all the outposts on this character but there are a few maps he's never been to, like Tears of the Fallen and Dragon's Gullet.

My third character is a full on healing monk. I've decided I wanted to just leisurely explore with him but I also wanted my final armor so I don't have anything to worry about. So I got myself a taxi and got my armor.

My fourth character is in Pre-searing still and is a necro. I'm sure I will have this char rushed to Droknar's as well for the same reasons as my monk. Maybe I'll try to progress by soloing all the missions this time.

Getting to Droknar's, for me, is just another way of going through the game. I've gone the long way, I've gone the so-called "right" way, I'm trying the relaxed way, and I will try the frustrating way. It's all about options.

Well, maybe it isn't exactly "exploit" but I find it stupid to have low level character wearing Forge stuff and than fighting early game monsters again, just because he "wants to solo"(of course, 7.5k comes from his friends ) It kinda kills the purpose of monsters having levels in the first place, where's the challenge? Feh, do it if you want - as long as you stay of low level arenas though.

Fair enough, I can dig it. From my perspective I think it's cool that people have found way through by exploration. When I started to ponder the gameplay aspect of it when is if they die and rezzed at the zones to get through. Since I have never done it I kinda pictured a train bobbing and weaving through baddies. If it's just a matter of dying, that seems to me sorta a exploit, but thats just my 2 cents. I don't necessarily agree with the whole being able to wear the high end armor, but I guess if there's nothing to say you can't....

This would be a much bigger issue if "rushing" to Drokar's Forge gave an advantage in something other than low level random pvp fights. However that is all it really does. Your level 6 character with the best AL money can buy can rule the Ascalon "under 10" random 4v4 PvP...so what? It just means you are too lazy for your own good. Anyone serious about the game will play all the way through.

Now I know some of you understand what I mean, but then again some of you don't. So here it is:

Anyone that wants to be truely great...not just great for a while, or great in a certain situation, but great every single time they play...they will take the time and effort to put themselves through every possible combination of builds in combat. Then they will know the difference between a "shutdown mage," a "disruption mage" and an "anti-caster", or the difference between a "tank" and a "max DPS warrior." In my opinion, ANet has done a great job of presenting a wide variety of builds and tactics in PvE and anyone new to the game would be down right foolish not to play through a few times to learn what it has to offer.

If a person has gone through the game with one, two, or three characters and has learned what is what and why, then I say let them rush. If they rush through before hand, then sooner or later they will come to realize that they missed something. What they do at that point is up to them.

Just because someone got rushed to drokar's forge and got all the "best" armor doesn't mean they AUTOMATICLY win in lowbie arenas...Im beginning to see more and more people ingame AND forums going "rush to drokar's = unstoppable god in low lvl PVP arenas" It doesn't work that way...

I think the previous posts are excellent points. I might argue that while it seems harmless to you and me what about the the new player who wants to play through the quests and story but at the same time wants to be competative in the arenas? If a persons initial experience is that they need high level armor in order to be competative (even if it's not always the case) they need to skip the through that might put some off.

I'm just wondering will it come to low level players without certain armor not get picked for groups?

I thought that's why they have the other PvP portion of the game...for people who didn't want to bother with the questing end of it.

The game developers do not run through every mission when they ant to test something they just walk there, or use the Alpha screen to just go there, I should say. lol But often they just want to go to an area to test or see something. and walking is very common for that... like I said only a few were able to get to droknars back in the beta, and they walked there through from lormars pass to do it before there were any monsters in it. THe high level mosters were put the to Guard it yes, but also to be a challenge to attempt the run directly... its not an exploit or a bug, its just a path through the snow. thats all...

Could you even get to Droknars in beta? Or the Crystal D? I got to Underworld, and beat Sanctum Cay, but that was as far as I got.

General access to droknars was only provided to the alpha team. during the last beta. The alpha folks have access to their own servers... and private instances apart from the retail or beta environment. Their server had access to more areas then we got to see in the beta weekend events... Often unpopulated areas.

On this, I agree with you. I'd hate for someone that was truly new to the game have their first PVP experience against a griefer. And yes, I consider going to the Ascalon arena with Forge armor as griefing. An experienced player wouldn't be fazed by someone doing that. They could think of strategies. But someone completely new that isn't familiar with the strategy or the concept of Guild Wars now has a very souring experience. They may even wonder what the point of continuing the game is if it's populated by people like this.

The solution to this is a simple one, I believe. No one can ever be on truly equal ground in post-searing Ascalon since anyone can go back there and offer runes, weapons, shields, etc. So put an arena in Pre-searing. You're forced to be on equal ground there and it's the best place to learn since you're also learning about the game. Others have suggested it and I think it alleviates the major gripe with being run to Droknar's.

That's a great idea, also you can put level limit on weapons and armor you can equip. That way a person can explore til thier hearts desire, get all the armor they need just not equip it to the appropriate level....and it would give lower level items added value.

*** SCAMMER ***

Ofir Atia

This guy just scammed me and two others. Luckily he only charged 500 up front so it wasn't that big of a loss.

Tips for helping avoid scammers:

1) If they don't let you pay at Rankor and insist you pay at Snakedance, they're probably a scammer. They act like they're going there, then they grab your money, log out. And you're left without even a zone down there (cause at Rankor, at least you could grab some hencies and rapidly level)

2) If they demand money up front.

I failed at number 2. But since he was only charging 1k (which should've been a red flag) 500 now, 500 later. I figured what the hell.

But whatever, it's not like 500 GP is that much money, just that he got the satisfaction.

I tried rushing to droknars, i was in lomars pass, and doing fine, until i discovered the damn fire worms. Seems almost impossible to rush through with them in it now. Have people tried it? They keep knocking you down. Maybe they were put in to stop runners?

Balanced stance = can't be knocked down.

Geo Stigma ran my warrior there. Only charged us a plat each! It was amazing. He used sprint, mending, charge, and balanced stance. Flawless! This is one good thing if you are a W/Mo.

As a W/E, I got crushed each time, yes, at lvl 20. After I got the better armor, In was able to fight my way half way back with the lvl 20 henchies. I stopped there since I was just farming and messing around. Fight through, sure, I can do it now. Run it? nope. I'd get my butt handed to me on a platter, lol.
